What's it about?
Paul and his friends enlist in the German army. But once on the Western Front, they discover the soul-destroying horror of World War I.
Why did we pick it?
The action is visceral, the setting is bleak and the result is inevitable which gives the hopeful innocence of the opening an extra level of tragedy. Despite the anguish, All Quiet on the Western Front is without a doubt one of the best-looking films of the year, immersing you in the horrors of the front line.
