Wicked Little Letters - Review

The Pen is Mightier Than the Sword.

The Guardians of the Galaxy team line up

Directed by Thea Sharrock.

A 1920s English seaside town bears witness to a dark and absurd scandal.

A quaint comedy with a strong British cast and a dirty mouth, Wicked Little Letters tells the story of the Littlehampton poison pen letters led by the wickedly charming Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley.

Made for a very particular audience that will laugh out loud whether it's the first or hundred time they hear "Foxy-arse" - your enjoyment of the film will purely rely on your resilience to swearing to be the punchline of almost every joke.

Balancing crude language with undertones of a dark family drama, there are some heartfelt moments throughout with Anjana Vasan giving a fantastic supporting performance. Wicked Little Letters is like if you smashed together a Sunday night BBC drama with the vocabulary of a foul-mouthed but imaginative child.
