Fight Like a Girl.

Ballerina is directed by Len Wiseman and written by Shay Hatten
Starring Ana de Armas, Keanu Reeves & Ian McShane.

Taking place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Eve Macarro begins her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.

After John Wick: Chapter 4, I was trepidatious with where the series could go. A series that reinvented modern action storytelling for Western audiences could overstay its welcome. Still then they announced a spin-off starring Ana de Armas and I realised they can do whatever they want.

An impressive side quest set during the third John Wick chapter, Ballerina continues to expand the Wick universe and even better manages to outdo many of the action sequences of the main series.

Ana de Armas gives a dedicated performance as Eve as she becomes involved in the world of the Ruska Roma, which apparently includes training in kitchenware weaponry, grenade combat and flamethrower defence.

A fantastic addition to the series, worth the ticket price alone for one particularly explosive kill in the armoury.

Our verdict: 4 out of 5 stars.

Ballerina arrives in UK Cinemas June 6th 2025
