When Will You Learn to Have Your Feet on the Ground?

Review written by Jack Aling

High Wire is directed by Calif Chong and written by Calif Chong and Jackie Lam.

Go-Wing, a British-Chinese teenager working at her father's takeaway in rural Yorkshire, joins a visiting acrobatic circus through a stroke of accidental blackmail. There she discovers her hidden rollerblading talent and the possibility of forging her own path.

Ambitious for a film of its size, High Wire has a strong visual identity and tries to do a lot in the time it has. The lack of character development really impacts a story with a lot of heart at its centre. Isabella Wei

is great in the lead, but the final product is far too cliché, which clashes against its unique premise.

Our verdict: 2 out of 5 stars.
