Survival is a Longshot.

Jurassic World Rebirth is directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp. Starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey & Mahershala Ali.
Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, covert operations expert Zora Bennett is contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world's three most massive dinosaurs.
The Jurassic series has almost died out on multiple occasions. The most recent being the drab reception to Dominion in 2022. But life… finds a way.
Back with a new set of characters and team behind the camera, this time director Gareth Edwards is at the helm to bring some of what made The Creator so special to the Jurassic series.
Unfortunately, the final result again isn't anything special. It strips out much of what made the previous instalments too convoluted, going back to basics - a mission to get from A to B and not get eaten by dinosaurs on the way. But without notable characters to get attached to and a paint by numbers story, there is nothing to get your teeth stuck into.
While two subplots fight for screentime, there are no stakes or danger as 'nameless crewmate 04' accompanies Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali, and you wonder who the dinosaur might get next.
Though I appreciate and prefer the simplistic adventure film to what we have had in the past, especially given the talent on/off screen and the bloated runtime, I wanted more and for it not to play things as safe.
Our verdict: 3 out of 5 stars.
Jurassic World Rebirth arrives in UK Cinemas July 2nd 2025
