The Old Protect the Young and the Young Protect the Old.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu is directed by Jon Favreau and written by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor.

As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin and his young apprentice Grogu.

The best thing about The Mandalorian & Grogu is that it's like watching 4 episodes of the show on the big screen. The bad news is that it feels like a bunch of filler episodes from the middle of Season 3.

I'm not even the biggest Star Wars fan, but I can get excited about seeing one of the most influential franchises on the big screen. The 'streaming' bug seems to have bled too far into this series - though there were moments of spectacle, it didn't really earn the jump to the big screen. There was no reason for this to leave the safe confines of Disney+.

The worst crime it committed was that… I was bored. At a Star Wars film. In the cinema. The bar is not that high.

Score slapped though, in Göransson we trust.

Our verdict: 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu arrives in UK cinemas 22 May 2026.
