Review written by Jack Aling

The History of Concrete is directed and written by John Wilson.
After attending a workshop on how to write and sell a Hallmark movie, filmmaker John Wilson tries to use the same formula to sell a documentary about concrete.
John Wilson finds beauty in the mundane as he explores, via a few side quests, The History of Concrete.
This 'rockumentary' uses street photography and precise comedic visual editing to delve into the preservation of communities and funding disparities across the US. Despite the dry title and premise, there is a breakneck pace, finding time for touching stories about musicians, political investigations into affordable housing and unexpected celebrity cameos. I even learnt the difference between cement and concrete. Worth watching just to experience the journey.
