When Bonnie receives a Lilypad tablet as a gift and becomes obsessed, Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang's jobs become exponentially harder when they have to go head to head with the all-new threat to playtime.
As the Toy Story franchise continues, I feel more divided. The end of the third film may be one of the best endings in modern cinema. That should have been it. But like it or not, the series continued. And every time I'm there on opening day. And every time, irritatingly… they're excellent.
Now tech continues to play an increasingly dominant role in our lives, this instalment is a necessary reminder of the importance of connection and creativity rather than getting lost behind a screen.
Though it didn't have the same emotional punch as previous chapters, it was a joy to watch the series evolve, giving Jessie her place in the spotlight as we learn more about her story.
Like the characters, I'm trying to embrace change. Toy Story 5 may not capture the nostalgic magic of the original trilogy, but it shows that it's okay for things to keep moving on. Plus, it's always enjoyable to see old friends.
