What's it about?
With this inventive portrait, director Kirsten Johnson seeks a way to keep her 86-year-old father alive forever. Utilizing moviemaking magic and her family’s dark humor, she celebrates Dr. Dick Johnson’s last years by staging fantasies of death and beyond. Together, dad and daughter confront the great inevitability awaiting us all.
Why do we love it?
A darkly comedic and honest celebration of life. A reminder to love, to be in the moment, but most importantly to not be afraid of the inevitability of death. It's a strange experience for a film to be this devastating yet comforting at the same time. It's not just a film about death but it tackles loss, moving on, and making memories while you still can.
