Jurrasic World Dominion - Review

The Doomsday Clock Might Be Out of Time. 3 / 5

Released in UK Cinemas: 10th June 2022

Directed by Colin Trevorrow.

Four years after Isla Nublar was destroyed, dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world.

Picking up the pieces of the roadmap that Fallen Kingdom set the franchise on, Dominion is a rushed and forced finale to a narrative that was already on the back foot.

Dinosaurs have been unleashed into our world - what an exciting concept with potentially limitless possibilities! But why would the filmmakers focus on that? Instead, Dominion parks that to the side, instead creating a film where half our characters go on a spy thriller / missing persons case while the others work on stopping an evil conglomerate from causing a global crop shortage…

Of course, this culminates in a forced legacy sequel where the only reason to bring back the original characters is that Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard can't be in two places at once rather than any real narrative purpose.

Ultimately it's just unnecessary. More entertaining than Fallen Kingdom but that's not much of an achievement - Let's hope Hollywood keeps its promise of this being the 'Conclusion of the Jurassic Era.' Please let the Dino's rest.
