ESC's Most Anticipated Films of 2022 (July-Dec)


2022 is halfway done. If you've missed it, we've already counted down our Top 10 Films of 2022 (So Far) but now we look forward - there's much more where that came from.


We've picked ten films that are our most anticipated as we head into the second half of the year that we cannot wait to escape to. NOTE: This list is based on UK release dates.


Thor: Love and Thunder (Cinemas) - 7th July

















Taika Waititi returns to add his signature directorial style to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thor searches for inner peace after the traumatic events of Endgame.



Bullet Train (Cinemas) - 3rd August

Delays are to be expected as Brad Pitt discovers that he may not be the only assassin on a fast-moving bullet train.

Nope (Cinemas) - 12th August

Jordan Peele's highly anticipated return to his skewed take on the horror genre teases a chilling discovery arriving from the skies.

Don't Worry Darling (Cinemas) - 23rd September

Inspired by The Truman Show and The Matrix, this clash of genres leaves Florence Pugh questioning her utopian lifestyle which may be hiding disturbing secrets.


Blonde (Netflix & Selected Cinemas)

23rd September

Ana de Armas stars in 'the role she was born to play' in this controversial and fictionalised look at the life of Norma Jeane Mortensen as she became Marilyn Monroe.


Decision to Leave (MUBI UK & Selected Cinemas) - 14th October

Legendary director Park Chan-wook returns with a dark mystery that won him Best Director at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.


The Banshees of Inisherin (Cinemas) - 21st October

Fans of In Bruges are in for a treat as Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson team up again with writer/director Martin McDonagh for another pitch-black dark comedy.


Avatar: The Way of Water (Cinemas) - 16th December


Ready to revolutionise the cinematic visual effect scene all over again, James Cameron is back for his first of his many Avatar sequels.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (Netflix & Selected Cinemas) - Late 2022

Detective Benoit Blanc returns to solve another case with a hole at the center swapping Massachusets out, this time escaping to sun-soaked Greece.


Killers of The Flower Moon (Apple TV & Selected Cinemas) - Late 2022

Scorsese. DiCaprio. De Niro. Do we need to say more? This murder mystery brings Scorsese's two star leads together for the first time.
