One Battle After Another 2025 film review
One Battle After Another is directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and written by Paul Thomas Anderson.

When their evil nemesis resurfaces after 16 years, a band of ex-revolutionaries reunite to rescue the daughter of one of their own.

Painfully timely and wholly unique, PTA's latest masterfully jumps between genres with some of the funniest, scariest and tensest scenes of the year.

It's rare that, outside of big franchises, films feel like events anymore. It felt like a real treat to go on the pilgrimage to Leicester Square to experience One Battle After Another in VistaVision with a packed-out audience and a fun little guy playing the organ as a pre-show. That's what cinema's about.

One Battle After Another fires on all cylinders. Some of the year's best performances, a thrilling score and cinematography that turns a simple road into the most imposing character of the year.

Our verdict: 4.5 out of 5 stars.

One Battle After Another arrives in UK cinemas 26 September 2025.
