I Wish You Were Here.
Review written by Jack Aling

The End is directed & written by Joshua Oppenheimer and co-written by Rasmus Heisterberg. Starring Tilda Swinton, George MacKay, & Michael Shannon.
A post-apocalyptic story about a rich family living in a salt mine converted into a luxurious home. As a young girl appears at the entrance of the bunker, the balance of the family is threatened.
The End has a lingering post-apocalyptic mystery at its core as we follow a family in a very swanky doomsday bunker. But despite the family's eccentricities, an isolated setting and a surprise musical layer - the execution does not match its ambition, all set to a testing running time.
The cast does a great job and in an opposite approach to the recent Joker: Folie à Deux, the film is at its strongest when performing its majestical musical sequences set to an extravagant orchestral score.
There's obvious talent in front of and behind the camera, but it all feels worthless when its messages of guilt and existential dread don't seem to lead anywhere outside of the surface level.
Our verdict: 2.5 out of 5 stars.
The End releases in the UK in 2025.
