I Couldn't Be Happier.

Review written by Jack Aling

What Marielle Knows is directed by Frédéric Hambalek and written by Frédéric Hambalek.

A couple's fragile domestic balance is shattered when their daughter Marielle suddenly develops telepathic abilities, granting her the power to see and hear everything her parents do. The lies they have been telling each other can no longer be hidden from their child.

A black comedy that takes a fantastical concept and turns it into a paranoia-fuelled look at the difference in how we act when we don't think people are watching.

When Marielle develops telepathic abilities during a schoolyard fight, she discovers she can see and hear everything her parents do. Whether they like it or not, this forces honest conversations as intimate secrets are revealed.

There is a calm confusion and wicked sense of humour throughout, despite some brutal home truths. A hidden gem at this year's London Film Festival.

Our verdict: 3 out of 5 stars.
