I Think I'm Gonna Die in This House.

Wuthering Heights 2026 film review
Wuthering Heights is directed by Emerald Fennell and written by Emerald Fennell.

Tragedy strikes when Heathcliff falls in love with Catherine Earnshaw, a woman from a wealthy family in 18th-century England. Emerald Fennell's visceral reimagining of Emily Brontë's 1847 Gothic novel.

The over-promise of provocation is easily Wuthering Heights' biggest downfall.

A lack of real chemistry from its leads perfectly demonstrates the tame adaptation ahead, proving that, regardless of whether it's desired or not, the anticipation leaves you expecting more.

The dramatic production design definitely helps to legitimise this retelling. I could take or leave the Charli xcx soundtrack, but this was more unremarkable than I was expecting, especially given Emerald Fennell's past work - an upsettingly clear example of style over substance.

Our verdict: 3 out of 5 stars.

Wuthering Heights arrives in UK cinemas 13 February 2026.
