Ghostbusters: Afterlife - Review

I Command You to Depart This World Immediately. 3 / 5

Directed by Jason Reitman.

When a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife follows the Force Awakens method of modernising the main story beats of the original with fresh faces with enough unsubtle hints at the past so all audiences can get something from it.

This reboot/sequel is more enjoyable than it has any right to be but there is such a disappointing lack of originality that either relies on your nostalgia or plays like a new adventure for the Stranger Things generation.

What I cannot forgive… it that Ghostbusters: Afterlife horrifically underutilises Paul Rudd. The final act hits all the "I remember" moments and will no doubt be satisfying for long-time fans but I wanted something more for this modern "reimagining."
