2014's Inside Out may be Pixar's finest hour in the past decade. So in today's cinematic climate, a sequel was inevitable, but the pressure to deliver an equal experience was high.

Introducing new emotions as Riley hits puberty allows Inside Out 2 to naturally expand on the groundwork it laid in the original, going in new directions that feel like a natural progression while still having that signature Pixar emotional impact.

Just hearing Michael Giacchino's 'Bundle of Joy' theme brings back a wave of nostalgic and poignant feelings, immediately making the audience feel at ease that we are in the hands of master storytellers.

Inside Out 2 is a worthy sequel that doesn't attempt to outdo the first, instead acting as a beautiful extension that touches on more mature and affecting moments in growing up. A comforting watch to remind us all that we are all on the same journey and we all have the same joyous, angry and anxious voices in our heads.
