One At A Time Is Twice The Fun.
Review written by Jack Aling

Mickey 17 is directed and written by Bong Joon Ho.
Starring Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo & Toni Collette.
Unlikely hero Mickey Barnes finds himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living.
Bong Joon Ho's follow up to his Oscar-winning hit Parasite feels long overdue. There's the usual ingredients that audiences have come to expect from Director Bong's films with not so subtle social commentary on capitalism and politics, but something about Mickey 17 feels so… hollow.
An exciting sci-fi premise gets distracted by attempting to spin too many plates, which results in a nondescript satire.
There are many positives, like the stellar cast, especially Pattinson in the multiple leads and Ackie & Ruffalo having the time of their lives. I am always for more physical comedy in cinema, which is where Mickey 17 excels - I just wish it stuck with it.
There is real confidence in the storytelling and filmmaking, but given the rest of Bong Joon Ho's filmography, this return to the big screen feels frustratingly underwhelming.
Our verdict: 3 out of 5 stars.
Mickey 17 arrives in UK Cinemas March 7th 2025
